What is Arabic to English Conversion?

This Arabic to English converter performs transliteration — it converts Arabic script into Roman English letters while keeping the words Arabic. For example, شكرا becomes shukran and مرحبا becomes marhaba. This Roman-letter style of writing Arabic is often called Arabizi, Franco-Arabic, or simply Romanized Arabic — the style widely used in chats, social media comments, and song lyric captions across the Arab world.

This is the reverse of our English to Arabic typing tool, where you type in English letters and get Arabic script. Together, the two tools let you move freely in both directions between Roman and Arabic writing.

A Note on Accuracy

Arabic script normally omits short vowels — the marks called fatha, kasra, and damma are rarely written outside the Qur'an and children's books. That means the exact vowels of a word are not present in the text itself; native readers fill them in from experience. Our converter maps every Arabic letter faithfully, honours any vowel marks that are written (including shadda doubling and tanween), and intelligently inserts light vowels between consonants so the result stays readable. Common words come out well; for rare words you may want to adjust a vowel or two. No rule-based tool can do better without a full dictionary — and unlike heavy server-based tools, this one is instant and completely private.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Does this tool translate Arabic to English?

No — it transliterates. The Arabic words stay Arabic, but written in English letters. شكرا becomes shukran, not "thank you". For typing Arabic script from English letters, use our English to Arabic typing tool.
