What is Hindi Voice Typing?

Hindi voice typing (also called Hindi speech to text or voice to text in Hindi) lets you write Hindi by speaking instead of typing. You talk into your microphone in normal, everyday Hindi, and this tool converts your voice into Hindi (Devanagari) text in real time. It is the fastest way to write long Hindi content — most people speak 3 to 4 times faster than they type.

This tool uses the speech recognition engine built into your browser, so there is nothing to download or install, no app needed, and no account to create. It works on desktops, laptops, and Android phones in Chrome, and the recognized text is standard Unicode Hindi that you can paste anywhere — WhatsApp, MS Word, Gmail, Facebook, or any website.

How to Use Hindi Voice Typing

  1. Click the Start Voice Typing button above.
  2. When your browser asks, click Allow to give microphone permission (needed only the first time).
  3. Speak clearly in Hindi. Your words appear in the text box as you talk.
  4. Click Stop Listening when you finish, or just keep dictating — the tool listens continuously.
  5. Edit the text if needed, then Copy it or save it with Download .txt.

Tips for Better Hindi Speech Recognition

Who is Hindi Voice Typing For?

Voice Typing vs Manual Hindi Typing

Voice typing is ideal for long, flowing content, but manual typing gives finer control for names, technical words, and mixed Hindi-English text. The best workflow combines both: dictate the bulk with this tool, then polish with our English to Hindi converter, where you type Hinglish words and get Hindi with smart suggestions. If your final text needs to go into legacy systems, our Krutidev to Unicode converter converts it to Kruti Dev format in one click.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is this Hindi voice typing tool free?

Yes — completely free, unlimited, and with no signup. It uses your browser's built-in speech recognition.

2. Which browsers are supported?

Google Chrome (desktop and Android) and Microsoft Edge work best. Recent Safari versions on iPhone also work. Firefox does not currently support browser speech recognition.

3. Why does it ask for microphone permission?

Speech to text needs your voice. The permission is handled entirely by your browser — this website never records or stores your audio.

4. Can I dictate in English too?

Yes. Switch the language selector to English (India) and dictate in English. Switch back to Hindi anytime.

5. The text is wrong or nothing appears. What do I do?

Check that your microphone works, reduce background noise, and make sure you allowed the microphone permission. If you are not using Chrome or Edge, switch to one of them.
